1st January 2015 - Stay in bed with the repulsive Hogmanay error sleeping next to you......or plunge straight into the icy waters of the Firth at the Loony Dook. Entirely up to you, we will not judge.

 

15th January-1st February 2015 - Celtic Connections. Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival. If you can't find something here that you like then move elsewhere.

 

20th January 2015 - Mark Lanegan plays the O2 ABC. Smoke a cigar, have a sandpaper sandwich, chew some barb wire and then sing yourself a song. You too can sound like this man. Seminal.

 

24-25th January 2015 - Aviemore Sled-Dog Rally. The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain take 1,000 dogs round Loch Morlich. Global warming not withstanding.

 

27th January 2015 - Up Helly Aa. Europe's largest fire festival in Lerwick. Burn Shetland and then take advantage of the public holiday the following day.

 

February 2015 - King Tut's 25th Birthday. Month-long celebration of one of the finest live venues in Scotland.

 

18th February-1st March 2015 - Glasgow Film Festival. Programme to be released on 21st January.....Will include Gregory's Girl.

 

30th April 2015 - Beltane Fire Festival. Something to do with celebrating Celtic ancestry and almost 100% guaranteed to include nakedness. Edinburgh.

 

2nd & 3rd May 2015 - Brew at the Bog. Festival of new music and  beer in Inverness. Bigger and better than last year with Fatherson and Hector Bizerk leading the bill. Get yer Scottish hip-hop here.

 

May 16th 2015 - World Whisky Day. Loads of different opportunities to nab a free dram. World Whisky Day strongly encourages people to enjoy their whiskies responsibly. As does World Buckfast Day.

 

The whole of May come to think of it - Whisky Month. Speyside decides that just having one day dedicated to whisky is for the jessies down south. You will drink for 30 days or else be thrown out the region.

 

May 22nd 2015 - Belle and Sebastian, SSE Hydro, Glasgow. With the Scottish Festival Orchestra no less. Hark at them.....

 

27th-29th August 2015 - Cowal Highland Gathering. Biggest Highland Games in the world, taking place in Dunoon. 23,000 visitors each year and attracts the world's best "heavy athletics."

 

Sometime September 2015 - Jocktoberfest. Black Isle Brewery in Inverness hosts a mini-festival of beer, bratwurst and bands. Drink organic, save the planet. Exact date TBC.

 

4-12th September 2015 - Blas Festival. Shitload of music across the Highlands. We'd be surprised if there wasn;t some fiddling going on.

 

11-13th ~September 2015 - Masters World Championships. Impressive title.......big Highland Games by the look of it. 2014 saw the The Tomatin Toss, creating a NEW Guinness World Record for Simultaneous Caber Tossing. 66 Tossed! Didn't even make this up...

 

25th & 26th September 2015 - Loopallu 2015 will again prove to be Scotland's best festival in late September.

 

27th September 2015- World Stone Skimming Championships - Easdale Island near Oban.....finally, your chance to shine.

 

10th October 2015 - World Porridge Making Championship (Carrbridge)……..sticky toffee porridge amongst the 2014 highlights.

 

Sometime October 2015 (TBC) - Tiree Wave Classic. Lunatic surfers from around the world decide that Scotland (rather than Hawaii) is the place to take a plunge.

 

19th December - 11th January - IRN-BRU Carnival, Glasgow.......lead up to next year's more agressive branding whereby Scotland will simply be re-named DRINKIRNBRU

 

24th December 2015 - It's A Wonderful Life, every cinema everywhere........stone cold classic.

 

25th December 2015 - Christmas and that.

 

31st December 2015 - Hogmanay and that.........various locations.
